PROPAGANDA=WORKS

and i say this because i have met the most normal looking person last night but his theories on life, society, religion, and north american politics is quite, er-how do i say this, disturbed.

this person, who belongs to a religious sect of which im not going to bother to mention what, started talking to my sister last night at a party that we came to. their conversation looked interesting so i asked my sis later on about what she talked about with this nice man.

she said that he said that apparently...

each or (i should say the majority of) the members of the American Senate belongs to this certain Christian coalition who is working towards the abolition of the 1st Amendment (Freedom of Religion, Press, Expression) which will consequently subject all members of different religious denominations to persecution from the state if they refuse to give up their religious beliefs - and that this will be catastrophic to mankind (or shall i say North Americans).

and you can just imagine where this conversation is headed - to Armageddon, Apocalypse and what have you...

hmmmm. its amazing to know that - at this day and age when modern man has thought of concepts such as human rights, freedom, and liberation - that some people are still naive enough to believe in conspiracy theories like such that would spark so much fear and paranoia and backlash to certain groups of people. and its scary to know that some people, however educated they seem to be, are willing to believe in such theories because charismatic leaders from their group has TOLD them that this is the truth or that this was revealed in their "spiritually inspired" visions and prophecies. its amazing to know that some people are blindly accepting "religious" messages without thoroughly examining its premises, the validity, or how it rationally sound. WOW.

its a scary world out there. times like this makes me want to appreciate atheism. NOT THAT I AM.
