MORE REASON TO BE TRIGGER HAPPY...

i saw this ad @ craigslist (online classifieds) for second-hand Canon 75-300mm IS lens. Actually, i saw 2 ads - one from British Columbia and the other was local but still far from me (coz i don't drive). i corresponded with the girl from B.C first since her ad was more recent. i also sent an email to the local posting hoping i'd get lucky since i was assuming it would have been sold already because of the age of the posting.

the girl corresponded from BC right away - gave me estimates for shipping and insurance and I managed to bargain with the pricing (what could have been $650 i manged to bargain for $600). but i could sense her hesitation to send the package all the way east to Toronto and she was honest to say that she was hoping to sell locally. she gave me an offer regardless but on the condition that if someone tops the price, she'd take the alternative offer. meaning, i would lose some fees for the money order i was gonna send her but will still have my $600 intact. so i gave her a compromise - if the lens don't sell in a week then it would be a close deal between us. but sadly, the lens got sold the next day for a measly $560. duh.

but it must be serendipity. the 2nd guy - local, emailed me back saying the lens is still available. what are the chances? i thought there must be something wrong with the lens coz it hasn't been sold still. but i decided to meet him anyway. so today... I ACQUIRED THE LENS, WITH A LENS BAG FOR ONLY $500! Scratch free (although it was an older version of the lens) but it works perfectly. he's a potographer who does not need it anymore as he got a more hard core lens (something 400mm... he does sports photography) so i am confident that he took care of this lens like his baby.

if i buy that lens today it would have cost me $750 plus taxes. so i'm patting myself in the back for making a good deal...

i'll post some pics as soon as i get the hang of this lens...
